October 2015
Hello Everybody
This afternoon, I find myself reflecting on the past months, and what I am learning about pain,
resistance,and self-compassion.
A couple of weeks ago I had a bad fall and subsequently have been unable to drive.
This has caused me to reflect on my own attitude
towards suffering, and seeking help from others. I am fortunate to have
my dear husband to ferry me about and take good care of me,but I am looking
forward to regaining my independence and driving again in the next week or so.
This has not hindered my learning, and growth, moreover, it has afforded me the
opportunity to reflect on all I teach and continue to learn with mindful
self- compassion, and all the work I undertake in the privileged place
of a therapist, where I hear of people’s courage, and determination when
they are at their lowest ebb, and struggling with difficult issues.
This reminds me about ‘common humanity’ one of the three
branches of Kristin Neff’s definition of self-compassion
I am really happy to be sharing news about the winter day retreats and
my fist annual spring weekend retreat at the beautiful Willersley Castle Hotel
in the mews.
Jill Phillips and I are celebrating three years of Natural awakening
and on November 21 our final offering of the year sees us introducing
a very special guest yoga teacher-Barbara Hastings-asatourian .
Barbara teaches Hatha yoga, Ashtanga yoga, yoga nidra and
Tibetan Buddhist meditation in my classes. She has also been
very privileged to learn teaching yoga with Manju Jois and David Swenson.
This November finds us at one of our favorite places –
