October 2019 news
Autumn, time to reflect, refresh our aim and enjoy the fruits of our practice
Hello and welcome to my October newsletter 2019
As I look out on this wet October day and reflect on the year that has passed and all that I have completed, shared, endured, and enjoyed, I feel a deep sense of gratitude as I look forward to the Autumn and new classes, courses, venues, and of course the Willersley Autumn retreat!
On Thursday October 10th we acknowledged World mental health day- our emotional well-being is so important and not least we are seeing rising rates of anxiety and depression amongst our teens- if you missed my article “Teen torment or triumph ” in the wonderful the Knutsford directory– you can catch the full article here
I am really excited also to be sharing news about a new well-being podcast which goes live Monday October 14 on iTunes. I will be posting the link on social media and then uploading the link to my website so you will have a good opportunity to have a listen and I do hope you find it helpful.
This autumn I will be facilitating the very first Mindful self-compassion group ‘therapeutic deepening our practice”-this is a pilot I am very excited about and passionate about delivering. I will keep you posted on the next course as this one is a fully booked pilot.
As I reflect back over this year I continue to be grateful for all that has come my way so far this year-especially the challenges which provided ‘silver linings’ with unexpected learning. Quite often in the face of adversity we don’t see the potential for growth and involvement. However, as we move through challenges and overcome them, it is a good idea to acknowledge that as an achievement and to reflect back with a compassionate heart for the suffering you may have endured and some warmth for the strengths you tapped into.
Resilience is a theme I have been coming back to over the last few months and if you have not already , then I can highly recommend Rick Hanson’s book Resilience- and the audio book of the same title narrated by Rick Hanson himself.
I will be continuing throughout the Autumn to undertake various projects and start new relaxation classes on 31 October and the Mindful Self Compassion course is now be held at Anxiety UK HQ ‘Nunes House 447 Chester Road,Manchester M16 9HA . I am thrilled to be able to deliver this empowering and uplifting programme here. I feel AUK HQ is a fitting venue for the course and its aims-building emotional resilience. The location is central Manchester so very easy to access and there are limited places with some already taken so do get in touch asap to apply for the November intake.
The dates are confirmed for the new Mindful self-compassion course over five weekends and you can find full details and download the application form here.

Food for thought this Autumn
I recently had a new article published in ‘In Cheshire’ – a wonderful magazine that I am thrilled to advertise in!
The article is called “Try a little tenderness” and offers some tips for taking care of ourselves in the moment-something we don’t always remember to do. I will continue to contribute and advertise into the new year, so I hope you manage to get hold of a copy! I am putting the full articles on my website blog and have put a link here for my latest article.
The path to emotional resilience is life-long and often winding but well worth following, so come and join me over the next few months as I show you the way through the mindful self- compassion course starting on November 2, the new , relaxation classes starting October 31 and the Willersley Autumn weekend retreat in November.

The Mindful Self Compassion programme November 2019
It is good to remember and be drawn to the fact that in amidst the pain and suffering there is always light and enduring beauty when we look mindfully and with gratitude for all that we love that surrounds us in each present moment, all that we accomplish, and all that this precious human life we are given can enjoy.
All MSC courses will now take place in Mid Cheshire and South East Cheshire.
The original ‘six weekly gathering‘ will continue to be held at Disley Quaker meeting in East Cheshire which borders with the High peak. Other gatherings will take place in South Cheshire also as the year progresses.
