Hello and welcome

Hello everyone, and welcome to my Autumn 2026 newsletter.

It’s hard to believe how quickly the year is passing. We’ve had such a warm and sunny summer, haven’t we? It has been beautiful, although I think many of us are now looking forward to a little rain to restore and renew the ground.

It has also been an exciting year for me personally and professionally, so I thought it was time to reach out with a newsletter, as it has been a while.

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you, including the launch of Taking Care of the Temple — a new wellbeing programme and retreat series.

Taking Care of the Temple

A six-week wellbeing programme and retreat series

I am thrilled to announce that I will be running my six-week Taking Care of the Temple programme again in January 2027.

This popular course combines evidence-based neuroscience with compassion-focused wisdom to promote wellbeing, resilience and longevity.

If you would like to learn specific skills and strategies to support your wellbeing, I warmly invite you to consider joining the next cohort of students.

Places are limited, so please register your interest as soon as possible.

Taking Care of the Temple – Weekend and Day Retreats

I am also delighted to be continuing the Taking Care of the Temple retreats at the beautiful Foxhill Christian Retreat Centre in Frodsham, Cheshire.

Foxhill Christian Retreat Centre provided such a welcoming and nurturing space for our first day retreat, which was a huge success.

It was hugely encouraging to receive such supportive and wonderful feedback.

A big thank you once again to everyone who attended and helped to make the day so special.

A Brand-New Summer Weekend Retreat

18–20 June 2027

I’m so happy to be able to offer more retreats at Foxhill, and I’m especially pleased to announce

Taking Care of the Temple  – a weekend retreat from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th June 2027.

Foxhill is the place I go to retreat. It is a place of warmth, welcome and nurturing.

It is a delightful space, and from the moment you step inside Foxhill, you are made to feel fully at home, fully welcome and fully cared for.

The staff are lovely, the food is excellent, and the grounds and setting are simply beautiful.

It is with this wonderful backdrop that I invite you to come and experience my Taking Care of the Temple weekend retreat.

A weekend of rest, restoration and wellbeing

The retreat will run from 4pm on Friday until 4pm on Sunday.

The cost is £295 inclusive of VAT, which includes:

My Own Journey Through the Seasons of Life

I’ve been reflecting on my own journey through the seasons of life, and on how I have learnt to take care of my own temple.

It has been a journey of learning, discovery, challenge and growth, and one that continues to shape the work I offer today.

If you would like to learn more, you can read about my personal journey to wellbeing here, or visit my fibromyalgia page.

Individual Therapy

If you are looking for more individual, practical support at a therapeutic level, I warmly welcome you to my lovely practice here in Twemlow.

I offer a range of therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of every individual.

It is my life’s work and my soul’s purpose, and such a privilege to hold a space and create a safe environment where you can be heard, supported and gently guided towards healing in all areas of your life.

Whether you are looking to heal from anxiety, sleep issues, addiction, relationship difficulties or other challenges, I am here for you.

I have been working compassionately with a wide range of issues since 1998.

If you would like to explore how I may be able to help, please get in touch for a free 15-minute discovery call. We can talk about what you are experiencing and explore which therapeutic approaches and dimensions may work well for you.

I offer a range of interventions, including:

  • Mindfulness-based approaches
  • Cognitive therapy
  • Counselling
  • Compassion-focused therapy
  • Integrative psychotherapy

Expanding My Practice

I’m excited to share some more news.

I am expanding my practice to align with my values and meet the increasing demand for spiritual support.

Later this year and early into next year, I will be offering a faith-based Christian counselling service alongside my clinical practice.

This is something that aligns deeply with my own faith journey, and I am very much looking forward to offering this new service.

A Holistic Approach to Wellbeing

As many of you know, and as I have written about here, I am a transpersonal psychologist.

This means that I am interested in all aspects of human nature and human need.

In the Mindful Self-Compassion programme, we look at meeting our individual needs in more helpful and nurturing ways.

As a holistic practitioner, I am concerned with working with the whole of you.

We are multifaceted beings, with complex and intricate networks of thinking, feeling and experiencing the world around us.

I believe wellbeing encompasses a number of interconnected areas of our lives, including:

Emotional wellbeing

How we understand, experience and respond to our emotions, and how we learn to meet our emotional needs with greater compassion.

Physical wellbeing

This includes sleep, nutrition and exercise, as well as issues such as IBS, nervous system health and the important connection between the mind and body.

Mental wellbeing

Our thoughts, beliefs, patterns of thinking and the ways in which we understand and respond to our experiences.

Relational wellbeing

Our relationships with family, friends, colleagues — and with ourselves.

Spiritual wellbeing

How we find meaning and purpose in the world, how we understand the bigger picture, and how our core values, identity and faith can shape our lives.

There is also the transpersonal dimension — our deeper nature and our relationship with what lies beyond the everyday experience of being human.

This important aspect of being human is often overlooked or neglected.

Yet when we begin to look more deeply at what truly matters to us, it can be an empowering and uplifting step forward.

 A note about Cancellations

Sadly, it is a fact of life that every now and then we make appointments and life gets in the way of being able to attend.

As a therapist, I recognise that unexpected things happen, and I therefore offer a 24-hour cancellation policy, with a caveat for situations where you or a close family relative are unexpectedly unwell or have been admitted to hospital.

I do have a strict 24-hour policy, and the published details can be found here on my website.

As with any self-employed service, my earnings cover my living costs. These costs are constantly increasing during these times of uncertainty, and I would therefore ask that you please bear this in mind when cancelling an appointment.

Without a guaranteed income, cancellations can result in a genuine financial loss. The more notice I can have, the greater the chance I have of offering the appointment to somebody else and recouping that time.

There is also another side to cancellations that can sometimes remain hidden.

When clients cancel appointments, it can cause real hardship and suffering for therapists themselves. I mention this not to create pressure, but to help protect the therapeutic relationship and rapport that we build together.

Thank you for your understanding.

Autumn 2026 Fee Increases

Finally, I wanted to let you know about a small change to my fees.

Whilst my fees have remained the same for over five years, sadly the cost of living and energy costs have increased significantly.

Business running costs have also risen, including compulsory training and continued professional development, insurance and registration fees.

Reluctantly, therefore, I will be making a small increase to my services, bringing them more in line with other practitioners and current market values.

From 1 September 2026:

Initial consultation: £90 → £100

Hourly rate: £70 → £75

The £75 hourly rate also applies to online therapy.

I appreciate that any increase in fees needs to be considered carefully, and I have kept this increase as modest as possible.

Until Next Time…

And so, that’s all for now.

Thank you, as always, for reading and for being part of my journey.

I wish you well in the autumn months ahead, wherever your path may lead.

May the coming season bring you opportunities to pause, reflect, restore and take care of your own temple.

With warmest wishes,

Annette
